As your on-site hosts at Casa Dulce Vida, they live right on the property and are always happy to greet you, offer local tips, and answer any questions you may have. Don’t hesitate to reach out — they’re here to make your stay unforgettable!

More Than Just Hosts – A Heart for Rescue

Doug and Terri Foster, your hosts at Casa Dulce Vida, are deeply involved with the local nonprofit Cortez Rescue & Outreach. In addition to volunteering, they open their home to foster dogs — often taking in those with serious medical conditions like cancer, diabetes, or traumatic injuries that require intensive, daily care. These are the dogs often overlooked, and Doug and Terri are committed to giving them the best possible life, however long or short that may be.
Most of their fostering happens during the quieter summer months when rentals slow down, but you may still see a few happy rescue pups around in the winter — usually no more than four unless there’s an emergency. The dogs are well-behaved, friendly, and love having neighbors close by!
If you stay with us, consider giving back during your visit — even just one day of volunteering makes a difference. You could help out at the rescue, foster a dog temporarily, or even become a flight angel to escort a pup to its forever home.
It’s a special way to experience Los Barriles and leave a little love behind.
